…I stumbled across a very fresh way of presenting moving image when viewing the audiovisual performance THE Z-AXIS by THE LIGHT SURGEONS at Future Cinema back in November of 2005 – implementing an intriguing way of arranging projections by building up layers of semi-opaque screens, each showing different angles of the same subject matter or sometimes even different imagery altogether. Screens were also placed around the peripheries of the screening hall up against the walls near the back.
It all came together as a really dynamic display of audiovisual work. It was, for lack of a better word, fun to be surrounded by it.
But, I do like indulging the child in me with fantasy-themed street theatre… Here’s a clip from the performance I caught by Close Act named Pi-Leau as part of the Greenwich+Docklands International Festival 09.
And another one of the festival shows…
Some images and footage from Against the Tide at the Cutty Sark Gardens and Water Music using the Queen’s House as its backdrop…
